
The expedition is organised by the Poznan Mountaineering Club associated at the Polish Alpinist Association. The objective is to explore Spitsbergen - climb its virgin summits, mark out new climbing routes, enjoy ski mountaineering and establish first ascents in the area of the Atomfjella massif. TS2 provides the expedition with satellite communication.
The participants are going to do research ordered by the Polish Academy of Sciences and university institutes that specialise in polar research.
Place: Atomfjella, the Arctic – Spitsbergen
Route:
• Poznan – Oslo flight
• Oslo – Longyearbyen flight
• Visit with the Governor of Svalbard to obtain permission for the exploration and hire additional equipment (guns, EPIRBs, signal rockets, etc.)
• Transportation of the equipment by scooters – approx. 200km
• Transportation of the equipment on skis up the Trygvebreen glacier. Setting up a base camp.
• Exploration – climbing, ski-mountaineering, scientific research
• Return from Atomfjella to Longyearbyen
• Check out with the Governor, return of the equipment, Longyearbyen – Oslo flight
• Oslo – Poznan flight
