Sunday, 21.06.2009

TeleCommunication Systems, Inc., today announced that it has received an additional $3.4 million of funding from the U.S. Army to provide additional Secret Internet Protocol Router (SIPR) and Non-secure Internet Protocol Router (NIPR) Access Point (SNAP) Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) Satellite Systems. These systems will support ongoing operations for the Combined Security Transition Command - Afghanistan (CSTC-A). This award is part of the U.S.

Army Communications-Electronics Life Cycle Management Command (CECOM LCMC) order that was announced in August 2008, with a potential value of $232 million, and brings TCS SNAP funding to date to $49.2 million.

It is the tenth increment of SNAP funding for TCS' highly reliable SwiftLink® deployable communications products. The U.S. Army Project Manager for the Warfighter Information Network-Tactical (PM WIN-T) Commercial Satellite Terminal Program (CSTP) is funding these procurements through the Army's $5 billion World-Wide Satellite Systems (WWSS) contract vehicle. The SNAP program includes options for approximately 1,500 terminals and supporting equipment to be deployed in various sizes and configurations over the next few years, along with up to 30 field support personnel.

SwiftLink® SNAP Overview

In response to the Warfighter's requirement for highly portable and interoperable tactical communications access for mission critical data while on remote assignment, TCS offers the SwiftLink® SNAP (SIPR/NIPR Access Point) Suite of deployable satellite communication products.

The SwiftLink® SNAP Suite provides interoperability among three different SATCOM terminals utilizing Ku, Ka, X-band frequencies with L-band service available via the E500 BGAN terminal. It includes three interchangeable baseband solutions as well as an UPS System and laptop/VoIP phone accessories case to provide the Warfighter with compact, lightweight, highly configurable SIPR/NIPR communications packages.

SNAP VSAT

TCS offers two standard SNAP VSAT terminals featuring a unique pack-in-the-box pedestal design that is lightweight with fewer moving parts.

SNAP Baseband

SwiftLink SNAP baseband packages are developed with proven components efficiently integrated into the smallest physical footprint possible without compromising performance in a variety of application environments. All three baseband packages allow for physical separation between NIPR and SIPR equipment and support HAIPE-compliant, Type 1 encryption.
